Winter 2011

Instead of taking pictures of every single page of the magazine, I’ve decided to take just one. I chose it especially because it summarizes everything about winter 2010-11.

Dress: $3405, Marchesa
Shoes: $925, Christian Louboutin
Earrings: $400, Mawi
Tights: $65, Wolford

Who's on your nice list?

Don't you love Canadian winters?

Its 7:30am and I’m wide awake, on my day off. I can’t believe this.
It all started a few weeks ago. My mom was analyzing my school schedule looking for a day when I had no school to book a dentist appointment. That day just happened to be today. I didn’t really sleep last night, so when I woke up at 5 I had nothing else to do, so I turned on the radio. “Slippery roads… no public transportation… try to avoid leaving the house…”
But of course, my mom wouldn’t hear any of it. So as we pull out of the driveway, I can see absolutely everything covered in ice. Everything shined; it was actually very beautiful.
Until my genius of a mother decided to drive downhill. Immediately, the car started spinning and made those scary the-brakes-aren’t-working sounds. It sounded a lot like the noise the Titanic made right before it cracked in half. In an effort to turn into someone’s driveway, my mom sort of drove onto somebody’s lawn, scraping her tires in the process. We were stuck. If we moved just by an inch, we’d be heading straight towards the river.

My mom: what the fuck am I supposed to do now?!!?!?
Me: how am I supposed to know?
My brother turns pale and is holding on to the cookie in his hands like it’s a life preserver.

Anyway, some guy who had been putting salt around his house witnessed the whole thing, and put tracks on my mom’s tires so we’d be able to drive back up the hill, to go back home.
At least I don’t have to go to the dentist.

New dates for mfw + more holiday heels

Good morning!
So maybe you’ve already found out, but at the beginning of the week I got an email from Josiane Bétit, one of the sources behind Montreal Fashion Week, saying that it got moved up by a month. Instead of being in March 2011, it is now going to be in February. That being said, the 20th edition of Montreal’s Fashion Week will happen from February 7 to 10, 2011. It’s organized by Groupe Sensation Mode, which is guarantees it’s going to be amazing (anyone remember the Fashion & Design festival in August?!)
The schedule isn’t finished yet, but it will be by January, which is when there’ll be details regarding tickets. Thank God most of the shows are in the evening, because I can’t exactly be downtown surrounded by fashion editors and in math class at the same time. Unfortunately.

In other news, as we move closer and closer to the holidays, the gift-ridden emails have been piling up like you wound not believe. Of course, this one caught my eye (most of them do).
And where do they come from? Michael Kors, of course.

Well, now I’m off to start writing yet another French oral presentation. On the plus side, it’s the last one until the end of January, and this one doesn’t have to be personal.

Pretty things from BCBG and Coach

It’s finally the weekend! (Even though it doesn’t really matter, since I’ll be doing projects the whole time).
Today I had a pop quiz in math, which I was already expecting, but now the teacher’s probably going to spend the weekend correcting it, and Monday might start off terribly. Oh God…
Other than that, it was a pretty uneventful week. The extreme decrease in temperature reminds me how close we are to the holidays.

As I’m sure you can probably tell, I’m prepared.
These BCBG emails are killing me. Today in history, there was literally nothing to do, and instead of reading I was thinking about what would be waiting for me in my inbox when I got home. This is what I found:

Every time you think you can resist taking a sprint to the nearest designer shop, they come back to haunt you. I’m not complaining!

Enjoy them while they last!

Dior Minaudière

Guess what!
My dad reinstalled Windows, so now I have my computer back.  Thank you daddy. ☺
So now everything works again, and it’s amazing. I don’t what I’d do if the computer was irreparable.
You know what else? I made the honor roll! It’s actually a funny story. When my mom and I got to school on Thursday night and went to get my report card, there was a bright pink paper stapled to it. It said:

Dear parent(s),

Your child has worked hard and is on the honor roll. Kindly come to the Plaza, we would like to personally congratulate you.

When we got to the plaza to see a vice principal, my mom was given a bright blue canvas tote bag that read: Proud Parent of an Honor Roll Student.
That bag is currently hanging from a doorknob, and has about zero chances of ever seeing the outside world ever again.
Anyway, this morning I finished reading the winter issue of FASHION. It was absolutely mesmerizing, especially the Gift Guide and the Shops section. I’ve decided that under the Christmas tree, I’d like to see the new Dior Minaudière clutch of eye shadows and lip glosses in pink and gold hues.
Did you start your wish lists yet?
